What conditions does Dr. Schneider's chiropractic office commonly help patients with?

It is important to understand that chiropractic is primarily focused on health problems that are caused by a spinal condition called a "subluxation". This term is used to describe spinal bones that have "shifted out of place" causing "nerve pressure" or "interference" to the spinal nerves. This can result from your body being exposed to physical injury, toxins (chemicals, pollution) or emotional stress.

These "subluxations" interfere with the flow of vital nerve information needed by your internal organ systems as well as your muscles, skeletal bones & joints! Subluxations also result in abnormal joint motion that can result in spinal decay and degeneration, if left untreated.

Subluxations may cause or contribute to any of the following symptoms:

  • Headaches, Neck Pain, Back Pain, Stiffness in Joints, Painful Joints,
Hip & Leg Pain, Fatigue, Stress/Tension, Numbness/Tingling, Arm & Shoulder Pain, Poor Posture, Muscle Pain, Urinary Frequency, Digestive Problems, Ringing in Ears,  Migraines, Sinus Trouble, Allergies, Asthma,
Muscle Weakness, Scoliosis, Female Health Issues, Pregnancy Related
Back Pain, Accident Related Pain, IBS, Asthma, Reflux, and bladder/bowel
    control issues.

What if I am suffering with some of the above health problems, but don't have any back pain?

It is not uncommon for subluxations to be "pain free" in early stages. However, if left untreated, more permanent damage is done to the spine, ultimately causing pain. The absence of pain does not mean there isn't a problem! A thorough exam will help to determine if you have subluxations and if they are contributing to your health problems .

By correcting subluxations, the functioning of your nervous system improves and your body starts the healing process. Many times conditions that seem unrelated to the spine will dramatically improve! (We have over 90 patient testimonials hanging on the walls of our office talking about these types of health changes.)

If you have any questions about your particular health problem or questions relating to our experience getting results with your health problem, call our office for a free consultation. Just mention when you call that you visited our web site.

What I can I expect from my first visit?

    1. You will need to complete some forms providing us with basic information about you and your condition.
    2. A consultation will be done so that we know all the important details about your condition.
    3. A complete spinal evaluation will be done to help us determine the nature and extent of your problem and to help determine if you are likely to benefit from chiropractic care.
    4. After your visit is over, the doctor will evaluate all of your examination results (including x-rays, if applicable). A specific program of care is then developed for the new patient, based on what care will give the patient the best result.
    5. A "one on one" report of our findings will be scheduled to discuss the results of your examination and what care will best help you with your problem.
    6. Patients are only accepted if the doctor believes they are likely to get a very good result. If not, he will usually suggest some other type of care that may be more appropriate.

What happens on "typical" visits?

On each visit the patient is examined to determine if the spine is out of its normal alignment. Areas that are mis-aligned are gently re-aligned.

During the course of a patient's treatment, they will receive advice on how to safely perform their daily activities. Stretching/strengthening programs may be introduced, and patients will receive other forms of health education. This allows the patient to learn how to take better care of their spine and prevent future problems. Knowledge is a powerful tool, and we encourage patients to learn all they can in order to maximize their recovery.

Do Chiropractors prescribe drugs or perform surgical procedures on their patients?

Chiropractic procedures do not include invasive procedures like surgery or medication. That is the domain of the medical doctor. Instead, we work in harmony with the body's own natural healing systems. That allows for optimal "natural" healing.

Why should I select Dr. Schneider's office?

Dr. Schneider has approximately 25 years of experience in helping people benefit from chiropractic care. His love for chiropractic, concern for his patients and commitment to excellence are key reasons people have come to rely on his unique type of care.

He uses a unique combination of "specialized" chiropractic adjusting procedures that have been learned over 20 years. Most of these methods are not available in your average office. Please refer to Activatormethods.com

But aren’t all chiropractic offices the same? ?

All chiropractic care is not the same. There are many different forms of chiropractic being taught and practiced .Dr. Schneider has advanced certification (see…about the doctor) in a number of areas and continues to increase his skills through continuing education.

He is experienced in caring for patients of all ages as well as having additional expertise in the type of injuries that are the result of automobile accidents.

Our friendly staff is prompt, competent and concerned about our patients. This all results in a better chiropractic experience for you.

Does "XYZ" insurance cover chiropractic care? What if it doesn't or I don't have insurance?

Today, many insurance policies cover chiropractic care to some degree. Some are better than others
. Until you know whether or not your condition is likely to benefit from chiropractic care, you are probably "putting the cart before the horse".

  • To help patients in the decision making process, we offer a free consultation to those who mention our web site. You can even print off one of our new patient history forms from the site, complete it and bring it with you to your appointment. Then after meeting the doctor and staff, you can decide if our office feels like right fit for you.
  • If you'd like to know more details about your coverage when you come to our office for your consultation, call our office beforehand and provide our staff with your insurance information in advance. We may be able to give you a more complete picture of how your coverage works when you arrive.
  • Only after you have been examined and the doctor has reviewed your case, can the doctor determine your total expenses. That's because at that point, the doctor can make a reasonably accurate assessment of how much care you will need and the cost your care.
  • If you have no insurance and the standard cost of care would present a genuine financial hardship to you, we'll do our best to work something out that you can afford. It's not an uncommon situation and we have no problem helping people out.

What if I'm pregnant? What if I have osteoporosis? What about my children?

Dr. Schneider has been taking care of patients with a variety of special needs for almost 20 years with excellent results.

Pregnant patients receive specialized care using special chiropractic tables that have been designed with the pregnant patient in mind. Many times pregnant patients suffer needlessly with spinal pain, unaware that we have an effective program of care for them.

Senior citizens (or any individual with "weaker" bones) are best served by a chiropractor that uses gentle procedures and has a long record of caring for these types of cases. The doctor is completely comfortable caring for this type of patient.

What about my children? The trauma of the birth process, childhood falls/ pranks and athletic injuries are four great reasons to have your children checked…even if they are not complaining of pain! The doctor has experience caring for children. We enjoy helping children at Schneider Chiropractic. International chiropractic pediatric association member and post graduate.

What if I have had an automobile accident or job related accident?

If you or someone you know has been involved in an automobile accident (regardless how minor it may have seemed), please read our "auto accident" section for some important information.

If you have been injured at work, always get an accident report filled out and signed by your supervisor, the day it happens. Don't assume the injury will go away. It may be permanent. Documenting your injury will help to protect you. For more about your rights regarding job related injuries, contact the state workers compensation office or our office. Legal advice may be appropriate if your claim is being denied.

What if I've been to a chiropractor before?
Do I need an examination?
Can I just get an adjustment?
Do I need x-rays? If so, can I use my old ones?

All patients that are new to our office are required to be examined. We have never provided care to you and have no information regarding the condition of your health and more specifically, your spine.

Receiving chiropractic care without being properly evaluated by your current doctor is not in your best interest.

We take your health seriously and know that even with the best of intentions, it would be professionally irresponsible and potentially hazardous for any chiropractor to bypass the proper evaluation of a new patient.

Although we welcome everyone, we are selective about who we accept as patients. We only provide care to individuals that are willing to be evaluated using the appropriate standards of care …those who we believe will benefit from our services.

Evaluating a patient may require the use of spinal X-rays, which is a necessary tool in determining the nature of the injury and the amount of spinal degeneration and decay.

A careful review of the patient's history and their examination findings are all taken into account when determining the need for x-ray. X-rays are taken only when they are absolutely necessary for the well being of the patient and it is safe to do so.

For example, we do not x-ray pregnant patients, so we have special procedures we use in these cases.

On occasion, a patient may have had films taken previously. Those will be reviewed by the doctor if the x-rays are less than one year old, and the patient hasn't had any injuries or significant changes in their symptoms since the x-rays were taken. Depending on the type and quality of the films taken and their relevance to the current problem, they may be used all …or in part.
